The evolved Witch had an instant impact on Clash Royale when she was introduced. While the normal Witch has always been strong, the new and improved version is one of the strongest troops overall when used in the right decks. She’s easily one of the strongest support troops in the game, and she’s also a lot of fun to play too. In this article I’ll quickly go over what the Witch’s evolution does, then I’ll get right into the main section on three great decks featuring her!
How to Play Witch Evo
The Witch’s evolution essentially makes it much harder to kill her. The evolution allows the Witch to heal every time one of her skeletons dies (this can also overfill her HP bar when full), which tends to happen a lot. According to the Clash Royale fandom/wiki page, only about 3 skeletons need to die for the Witch to get to maximum HP with the evolution. This basic change might not sound like a lot, but it’s a huge difference. Since the skeletons are so quick to die, the Witch is healing far more often than not.
While this change doesn’t really affect the way you play the Witch, it does let you be somewhat more aggressive. Cards that counter the Witch’s skeletons are no longer a threat to her, and even spell counters are harder to use since her HP is increased. The Witch’s evolution isn’t flashy and it doesn’t change her role, but it makes her far more reliable and harder to deal with.
Witch Evo + Giant Hero

Cards:
- Witch (Evo)
- Snowball (Evo)
- Giant (Hero)
- Graveyard
- Bowler
- Minions
- Arrows
- Tombstone
This deck has been seeing tons of play at high levels, as it’s all over RoyaleAPI and the TV Royale. It uses the Giant hero card since it is one of the strongest tanks in the game right now, with Graveyard as the secondary win con. The gameplay in this deck is fairly aggressive due to this. Giant allows you to spam troops at the bridge when on the field, and Graveyard ensures that a single tank counter won’t shut the deck down.
One of the most important cards in this deck is the Bowler. Bowler is great for this deck since the Witch can support him if Giant isn’t available, and he’s also good support himself for the Giant. Bowler’s strength is his strong range, knockback, and ability to evoke a response. Opponents can’t ignore the Bowler, so if you want to bait them into attacking one side he’s a great way to do it. Plus you can’t just counter him easily with a single card, so he’s always a strong threat.
Other than the Giant + Witch + Bowler trio, this deck also has some other strong cards to back them up. Snowball as the second evolution is good since it clears out anything it hits and counters low-HP troops. Snowball is almost always a strong response to whatever they try to counter Giant with. Minions is for countering dangerous tanks or win cons like Hog Rider, and Tombstone is just a cheap building to use. If you have both hero slots unlocked (I don’t and to be honest I don’t want to climb to 10,000 trophies just for that) then Musketeer is great since she comes with a building in hero form, but if you don’t have it I like using a cheap building as a replacement.
Witch Evo + Golem

Cards:
- Witch (Evo)
- Baby Dragon (Evo)
- Golem
- Berserker
- Guards
- Barbarian Barrel
- Goblin Curse
- Ice Spirit
For this deck, we have one of my favorites–a Golem deck. Golem decks are always fun since they’re largely focused on winning with a single massive push, centered around the Golem. Golem costs 8 elixir, but has insanely high HP and splits into two smaller Golemites upon death. As far as tanks go, you don’t get better than the Golem. The only downside with Golem is that he’s very slow, so he needs a lot of support. Luckily, the evolved Witch is a fantastic support troop, and so is the second evolution, Baby Dragon.
This deck is really just a straightforward Golem deck with the Witch as one of its evolutions. Berserker is her since she’s a really strong cheap troop that can defend pretty well, Guards are strong defense, and Barbarian Barrel is good for clearing out inevitable swarms that will be targeting Golem. Goblin Curse is a really fun spell for this deck since it can turn enemy troops into your own Goblins, which only helps with Golem pushes. In fact, if you can pull off a really good Goblin Curse, you can turn it from a defensive spell into an offensive one.
With this deck, it’s best if you’re very careful about when you play Golem. Since he’s expensive and slow, you don’t want to use him and let it go to waste. Try to have an evolved Witch ready to go, as well as Baby Dragon before you cast it. Waiting until double elixir is usually the better play as well, but you can do it in the first minute if necessary.
Witch Evo + Hogs & Skeleton King

Cards:
- Witch (Evo)
- Royal Hogs (Evo)
- Skeleton King (Hero)
- Goblin Hut
- Bandit
- Goblin Gang
- Electro Spirit
- Rage
For the last deck, we’ve got one that’s a lot more aggressive. With the Royal Hogs as the second evolution here and the Skeleton King as the hero, this deck is all about creating swarms. The evolved Witch is obviously good at this as well, so she’s the perfect backup to add. Royal Hogs excel at causing chaos and doing damage, so they’re great for pairing up with Skeleton King. The King is one of the best heroes, especially when paired with swarm-heavy decks like this one.
For the rest of this deck, the main troops are Bandit and Goblin Gang. Bandit is best for countering mid-HP troops and then creating a counter push which can be helped with the Hogs and/or Witch. Goblin Gang is the best defensive card in this deck. They do enough damage to deal with most tanks and mid-HP troops, so the only thing they really have to worry about is AOE attacks and the Log. Then I also have Rage since I feel like it just helps with the chaotic nature of this deck. Royal Hogs almost always reach a tower/building, so you’ll be able to get at least some use out of Rage with them.
I highly recommend playing as aggressively as possible here. Between Royal Hogs, Bandit, and Skeleton King, you’ll have more than enough pressure to constantly be doing something offensive.
